Blessing of the Animals

Guest Blogger: Ronda Welander

“If you have men who will exclude any of God’s creatures from the shelter of compassion and pity, you will have men who will deal likewise with their fellow men.”  –  Francis of Assisi

Thomas of Celano was a member of Francis of Assisi’s  religious order and he knew him personally. He is recorded to have written some of the first books about the saint. Thomas’ books declare Francis’ love for animals and his conviction that religious faith and care for God’s creatures go hand-in-hand.

The Welander family with their fur babies, Dexter and Banks!

Our pets are truly members of our families. I love Dexter and Banks with all my heart and thank God for the blessing of them both in our lives.  I would like to extend an invitation to a “Blessing of the Animals” event at Heritage Presbyterian Church. There, our pastor Clare Lozano, will bless those that have been such a blessing to us. There will be a special time of fellowship with treats for all…even for our furry friends!
