Monday Morning Pause Disney Edition
Ecclesiastes 4:9–10
“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor:
If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.”
There’s something wonderfully simple about The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh at Disney. As we travel through the Hundred Acre Wood, we meet Pooh and all his friends—Piglet, Tigger, Eeyore, Rabbit, Owl, and Kanga and Roo.
They couldn’t be more different.
Tigger is endlessly enthusiastic.
Piglet is timid and unsure.
Rabbit likes things organized and under control.
Eeyore expects the worst.
And Pooh? Well, Pooh is usually thinking about honey.
Yet somehow, they belong to one another.
Throughout their adventures, they get lost, face blustery days, encounter unexpected troubles, and occasionally find themselves in need of rescue. And again and again, they discover that life in the Hundred Acre Wood is simply better when they face it together.
Ecclesiastes reminds us of the same truth:
“Two are better than one… If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.”
We weren’t created to journey through life alone.
God created us for relationship—for people who will celebrate with us when life is good, sit beside us when life is difficult, laugh with us, listen to us, encourage us, and sometimes help us back to our feet.
Friendship doesn’t require us to be alike. In fact, some of the richest friendships are formed between people who see the world very differently. What matters is that we choose to show up for one another.
And perhaps that is part of the gift of friendship: sometimes we are the one who needs lifting, and sometimes we are the one who gets to lift someone else.
Pause & Reflect
Take a quiet moment and think about the people God has placed along your journey.
Who has helped you back to your feet when you have fallen?
Who makes the journey a little lighter simply because they walk beside you?
And perhaps most importantly:
Who might need you to walk beside them today?
Maybe Monday’s invitation is simple.
Send the text.
Make the phone call.
Share the cup of coffee.
Offer the encouragement.
Show up.
Because like Pooh and his friends in the Hundred Acre Wood, we were never meant to make this journey alone.
Prayer
Gracious God,
thank you for the gift of friendship
and for the people you place beside us along the way.
Thank you for those who laugh with us,
listen to us, encourage us,
and help us back to our feet when we fall.
Help us also to notice those
who may need a friend today.
Give us generous hearts, listening ears,
and the willingness to simply show up.
Remind us that we were never created
to journey through life alone.
Amen.
