Luke 16
Scripture Focus:
“Whoever is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much; and whoever is dishonest in a very little is dishonest also in much.”
— Luke 16:10 (NRSVUE)
Reflection
In Luke 16, Jesus teaches about stewardship—how we handle what has been entrusted to us. He reminds us that faithfulness is not measured by size or status, but by sincerity. What we do with the small things reveals the shape of our hearts.
It’s easy to overlook the quiet responsibilities of life—the daily kindness, the unseen service, the consistent generosity—but these are the very places where God’s kingdom grows. Advent is not only about grand gestures of faith; it’s about small, steady acts of trust that prepare the way for Christ.
Jesus tells us that our choices—how we use our time, resources, and influence—are spiritual choices. When we are faithful in the little things, we show that we believe God is present even there. Each simple act of honesty, compassion, and care becomes part of the larger story of redemption God is writing through us.
Prayer
Faithful God,
You have entrusted us with so much—
gifts of time, talents, and love.
Teach us to use what we have wisely and well,
not for our own gain but for Your glory.
Help us to see every task, no matter how small,
as an opportunity to serve You.
Make us faithful stewards of Your grace,
and let our lives reflect Your generous heart.
Amen.
Practice
Today, choose one small act of faithfulness.
It could be offering encouragement, finishing a task with care,
or giving quietly to someone in need.
Before you begin, whisper this prayer:
“Lord, make me faithful in the little things.”
Trust that even small deeds, done with love,
become sacred when offered to God.
